Leonard Finelli Obituary

Leonard J. Finelli

Colts Neck

Leonard J. Finelli of Colts Neck, passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2015, following heart complications. Mr. Finelli graduated from St. Francis College in Brooklyn, New York with a degree in accounting. Fresh out of college he was already making good business decisions. He took a lower paying job because of the networking connections he would make, eventually rising up the corporate ladder through hard work and long hours. Through the years, he developed a strong business sense, investing in a small company in which he would become his own boss as a CFO.

Just a few years into retirement, the end came too soon.

He battled hard for years with multiple myeloma, the cancer of the bone marrow. He endured so much, receiving transplants and chemotherapy. He was a trooper. He never gave up. His will to live was driven by his family, never wanting to leave them on their own, without their leader. But he leaves them knowing that he built them a better life. He was a smart man with a great sense. He was a man you could always talk to if you needed good advice; on life, on steaks, anything.

He was the lifeblood and leader of his family, and he leaves behind his wife, Ursula, his son, Eric, and his daughter, Danielle. I love you Dad, you will be missed.

Visitation will be held from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 18, 2015 at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel. For directions or to send an online condolence to the family, please visit www.holmdelfuneralhome.com.

One of the finest men I have ever worked with and came to love. This is just heartbreaking. I can remember bringing my daughter, Mariah, at the age of 3 to the luncheon for Eric's baptism. The love of family was the single priority in his life. I am very sad that I only got the news yesterday at 4 PM. I love the Finelli Family. My most sincere condolences. Jim Costello

I am deeply saddened to hear of Len's passing. I reported to Len when we both worked at VNU. I enjoyed working with Len and learned much from him. He had a remarkably consistent nature about him. I never saw him lose is patience or display anger no matter what the situation. May he rest in peace.

I had the honor of being one of the nurses that cared for Len. He was such a strong and caring man who never complained and was well liked by all. He will be missed and our prays go out to his family.

Too shocking for words, I can not believe, in the silence of my mind I recall almost 45 years of memories. As a child I spent many happy moments with Aunt Anna & Lenny, they were a duo seldom apart. Lenny Loved family and was always present and in full participation of family events, Many a Sunday dinner, or just coffee and cake. He will live in my memory until we meet again some sunny day.

I just heard this very sad news. I was an old friend and colleague of Lens from the VNU days. He was one of the smartest financial and business leaders I have known and one of the most supportive and good natured individuals you could meet. The world is a sadder place without him. May he rest in peace . Terry
