Susan Watson

AGE: 74 • Port Monmouth

Susan Watson, 74, of Port Monmouth, NJ, died on March 14, 2016 at Meridian Health and Rehabilitation in Shrewsbury, NJ. She was born in Elizabeth, NJ to the late Thomas and Marie Slickmeyer and lived there until moving to Port Monmouth with her husband in 1966.

Sue worked as the "lunch lady" at Middletown Village School. She often thought of the kids at the school as her own and loved them as if they were her grandchildren. Sue enjoyed Atlantic City, shopping, and hanging out with her best friend Joan Ida. Sue's greatest joy was her grandchildren and great-grandson.

Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law Diana and Ray Stover; her daughter, Kim Backovsky; her favorite son, Ed Watson and his fiancè Michele Armstrong; her grandchildren, Lauren, Casey, Robert, Amanda, Christopher, Kira, Mark, Thomas, Cora, Glen and Mason; her great-grandson, Dominic; her brother, John Westgate; and her sister, Pat Sayko.

Sue was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edward Watson in 2005.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 18, 2016 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, 115 Tindall Road, Middletown. A Funeral Liturgy will be offered Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 9:30 am at St. Catherine's Church, 110 Bray Ave., N. Middletown. Guests are asked to arrive at the church at 9:15 am. Burial will follow at Graceland Memorial Park, Kenilworth.
