Mrs. Audrey Mae Thompson Mushrush

Audrey Mae Thompson Mushrush, 92, of Hoopeston, passed away at 12:43 p.m. Oct. 23, 2013 at Heritage Health Nursing Home in Hoopeston.
Audrey was born on Feb. 22, 1921, in Horse Cave, Ky., the daughter of Andrew and Medie (Hauk) Carter. She married Marvin Thompson on Feb. 11, 1939, in Covington, Ind. He preceded her in death on May 4, 1986. She later married John F. Mushrush on Nov. 14, 1987, in East Lynn. He also preceded her in death.
She is survived by one son, Richard A. (Linda) Thompson, of Hoopeston; two grandsons, Rich W. (Glenda) Thompson, of Hoopeston, and Mike (Robbin) Thompson, of Rantoul; two step-grandchildren, Angie Weaver, of St. Joseph, and Michael Jackson, of North Ft. Myers, Fla.; six great-grandchildren: Trenton Thompson, Rylee Thompson, Drake Thompson, Reese Thompson, Rome Thompson and Jeff Thompson; two step-great-grandchildren, Braydon and Brody Weaver; one sister, Veotrice McGinnis, of Paxton; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, two sons, Jerry and Jim Thompson, and four brothers.
Audrey worked at C.B.S. for 11 years, until she retired. She was a member of the Hoopeston United Methodist Church and was involved in the Women's Circle at the church. She enjoyed her grandchildren, playing euchre, sewing, quilting, gardening, raising flowers and most of all her family.
Audrey was also well known for reporting the weather to the National Weather Service in Lincoln for the last 15 years. She would note the weather for them twice a day seven days a week. Audrey won several weather awards including the Thomas Jefferson Award and the Benjamin Franklin Award, which are two of the highest awards in weather reporting.
A Celebration of the life of Audrey Mae Thompson Mushrush will begin at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 28, 2013 at the Brown-Alkire Funeral Home, with Pastor Andy Maxwell officiating. Burial will follow the service in Floral Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made in Audrey's name to the Hoopeston United Methodist Church.
