Cora Isaac, 97, of State College, Pa., and formerly of Vinton, passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at Mount Nittany Medical Center, in State College, following a brief illness. She was born March 16, 1917, to Eli and Rebecca Johnson in Weeksbury, Ky. On June 1, 1934, she married Mayland Isaac. Following the passing of her husband in Ohio, she moved to Pennsylvania. She is survived by four daughters, Verdie Rider, of Pomeroy, Carol Sue Fitzgerald (Richard), of State College, Junnie Heverly (Craig), of Howard, Pa., Julia Boone (Gary), of Mill Hall, Pa.; and three sons, Elige Isaac, of Ypsilanti, Mich., Eppie Isaac (Trudy), of Ypsilanti, and Lonzo Isaac (Patty), of Montrose Pa. Preceding her in death, in addition to her husband, was her daughter Lola Isaac; and three sons, Vernon Isaac, of Vinton, Mayland Dean Isaac, of Oak Hill, Ohio, and Robert Lee Isaac, of Erie, Pa. Additionally, she cherished the spirit and innocence displayed to her through her 25 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren. Throughout her life, Cora was known for her keen sense of humor, love of gardening both flowers and vegetables, sharp card-playing skills, her famous biscuits and gravy, and the love she always showed for family, friends and strangers. Everyone was welcomed in her home. No one ever left hungry, even if it meant sacrifice on her part. Her table was God's table. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, April 21, 2014, at Little Pearl Old Regular Baptist Church on Mount Tabor Road near Vinton. HENDERSON, W.Va. — Mable E. Long, 72, of Henderson, W.Va., passed away April 15, 2014, at Pleasant Valley Hospital. She was born September 14, 1941, in Letart, W.Va., a daughter to the late Wade Nelson Morrison and Vera McKinney Morrison. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by grandson Jacob Russell, and three brothers. She is survived by son David (Susie) Hill of Billings, Mont., and their children: Seth (Tracie) Hill of Milwaukee, Wisc., Caleb Hill of Bozeman, Mont., and Jaqueline Hill also of Billings; and son Mark (Connie) Hill of Point Pleasant, and their children: Ashley (Chris) Cumberland of Orlando, Fla., and Mable's grandchildren Julian (Matthew) Cumberland, and Jeremy Hill; and daughter Vonda (Kevin) Scott of Point Pleasant, and their children: Andrew (Josie) Layton (with baby Layton on the way), Bradley Layton, Gabe Scott, Hayden and Madyson Scott; and daughter Rhonda (Larry) Russell of Gallipolis, Ohio, and their son Michael (Brittni) Russell, and Mable's great-grandaughter Jenna Russell, and two sisters and one brother. At her request there will be a private family service at the Deal Funeral Home on Saturday, April 19, 2014, at 1 p.m., with Pastor Denver Hill officiating. Burial will follow in the Ohio Memorial Gardens in Gallipolis. Friends may visit the family at the funeral home on Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. prior to the service.
