David "Sandy" Wilson, age 66 of Point Pleasant, passed away Tuesday December, 31, 2013 at Pleasant Valley Hospital with friends and family at his side.
He is preceded in death by his parents George Gordon Emerson Wilson and Kathryn Sue "Tootie" Wilson and his aunt and uncle Chuck and Mitzi Taylor and aunt Gloria Gibson Kines.
Sandy is survived by is former wife Ann Wilson, of Apple Grove, and her three daughters; Kara (Kelly) Tench of West Des Moines, Iowa, Jayna (Jerry) Lowery of Ashton, W.Va. and Billie (Chris) Loudin of Sunrise , Fla. He is also survived by his five grandchildren whom he loved and adored. Casey, Elijah, and Easton Lowery and Keaton and Kylie Tench, also surviving his his one sister; Melisa "Missy" Sue Wilson McCormick of Point Pleasant, WV one cousin; C. Michael (Lola) Taylor of Point Pleasant along with his close friends Kenny and Joyce Oliver, Michael Durfee, Kenny Blankenship, Lois Jeam Frum, Dennis Brumfield, and Matt and Brad Clark.
Sandy is a Marine Corps Veteran of the Vietnam War where he not only served three tours, but volunteered to return after recovering from wounds received in his first tour. Sandy was a true hero to those that knew him, he was honored and awarded five Purple Hearts for his service, valor and selfless bravery during his time of service in Vietnam. He believed that Once a Marine, Always a Marine, and he proudly carries the title of United States Marine still today.
After leaving the service Sandy came home and went to work with the US Army Corps of Engineers at the Robert C. Byrd Locks and Dam, and worked there until he retired.
Sandy was a kind hearted man who would do anything for anyone who needed it, those with the privilege of knowing Sandy knows this to be true, he will be deeply missed by all — Semper Fi.
Services are under the care of Crow-Hussell Funeral Home. There will be a celebration to honor the life of Sandy Wilson at Crow-Hussell Funeral Home on Saturday January 11, 2014, friends may gather to visit and tell stories beginning at 11 a.m. with a memorial service beginning at 12 p.m.with full military honors.
