Emily Pearl Earl, age 79, of Point Pleasant, passed away on Friday evening, October 4, 2013, at Pleasant Valley Hospital.
Emily was born May 11, 1934 in Morgantown and was raised by her aunt and uncle Mr. and Mrs. Ed Foltz. Growing up was hard and even with the struggles, Emily never gave up, she had a very strong will and once she set her mind to achieve something that is what she did. Emily graduated high school and entered college with her mind set that she was going to become a teacher, not only did she achieve this goal she was also very good at what she did, so good that she received a job offer without having to take an interview.
She began teaching in Front Royal, Va. then moved to Cowan High, it was here that she met and caught the eye and heart of her loving husband Frank. They worked together for a year until Emily was offered a job at Parkersburg Hamilton Junior High, she accepted the job without even taking and interview. Emily taught in Parkersburg for seven years until they made the move to Point Pleasant where she taught and made an impact on the lives of her students in a way that only she could. Emily retired from the Mason County School System after 20 years of service in the county and a total of 31 years over her career.
She attended many churches over the years, Methodist, Baptist, Presbyterian, it did not matter Emily could feel at home in any of them, once here in Point Pleasant she found a home and became a member of Trinity United Methodist.
Emily is survived by her husband and best friend F.F. Earl., and though she did not have children of her own she considered her students her kids.
Emily had a soft spot for her dogs, and was especially fond of her rescued dogs.
There will be a memorial service to celebrate Emily's life on Tuesday October 15, 2013 beginning at 5 p.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Point Pleasant, with a meal to follow.
