LEON — Lewis Jay Thomas, 47, of Leon, unexpectedly went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 9, 2014.
He was born Feb. 4, 1967, in Gallipolis, a son to the late Wayne Thomas and Carolyn King Thomas of Point Pleasant. He was a proud member of the Maranatha Cornerstone Church in Letart and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local # 317 in Huntington, where he was a journeyman lineman.
Jay was a friendly soul that never met a stranger. If you met Jay, it wasn't very long until his humor and infectious personality made your heart smile. He will truly be missed by family and friends.
Jay was preceded in death by his father Wayne Thomas; paternal grandparents Allen and Faye Thomas; and maternal grandparents Willie and Hazel King.
He is survived by his two loving children, Christian Thomas, of New Haven, and Eliza McCoy, of Point Pleasant; loving mother Carolyn King Thomas, of Point Pleasant; three loving brothers, William (Tina) Thomas, of Arbuckle, Jeff Thomas, of Point Pleasant, and Chris (Missy) Thomas, of Leon; three nieces, Ashlee Smith, Seonta Thomas and Zara Dunn; four nephews, Allen Thomas, Zachariah Thomas, Ethan Searls and Gabriel Thomas; and a host of friends and neighbors.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday, April 13, 2014, at Deal Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, with Pastor Greg Collins and Chris Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Leon Cemetery. Friends may visit the family at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, April 12, 2014.
