Donald Fred Thompson, 92, of Letart, W.Va., passed away with his loving family at his side at Pleasant Valley Nursing and Rehab Center on August 27, 2013. He was born on April 23, 1921, a son to the late Harry Thompson and Ada Roush Thompson. He was a crane operator at the Phillips Sporn Power Plant and was also a decorated Army Veteran where he served in WWII.
He is preceded in death besides his parents, by daughter Gloria Roush and her husband Lester; brother, Albert Thompson; and sisters, Amy Boston and Esther Witmer.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Mildred Bumgarner Thompson of Letart, W.Va.; son, Tony Thompson of Morgantown, W.Va.; grandchildren, Scott and Zoann Roush, both of Point Pleasant, W.Va., as well as great-grandchildren Scott Roush II, Lilly Roush, and Brandon Roush.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, August 30, 2013, at the Deal Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, W.Va. Burial will follow in the Graham Station Cemetery in Letart, W.Va., with full military graveside rites conducted by the W.Va. Army Honor Guard of Charleston, W.Va., and American Legion Post #23 of Point Pleasant, W.Va. Friends may visit the family from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
