DUNBAR — Sue Davis, 84, of Dunbar, died Saturday December 7, 2013 after a long illness. She was born in Mason County and grew up in Point Pleasant.
She was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Don W. Davis; parents, Virginia and Harry Black; and brother, Warren Black.
Surviving are daughters, Pamela Davis Beam and son-in-law, Marty of Huntersville, N.C., Carol Brown of Portsmouth, Ohio, Linda Donohoe and son-in-law Jerry of Scott Depot; son, John Carpenter and daughter-in-law, Jenny of Lakeland, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
She was a former secretary for West Virginia University Extension Services in Kanawha County and is a member of Roxalana Gospel Tabernacle in Dunbar.
She enjoyed planting her vegetable garden, preserving the fruits of her harvest, and doing her own yard work which she accomplished until the last year of her life. She loved to paint and did beautiful still life and scenic pictures. Many of these she gave as memorable gifts to her children and grandchildren. Sewing and fishing were also hobbies she enjoyed.
Gratitude from her family is extended to the professional, tender care she received at the River of Life Personal Care Home the last days of her life.
