CHESAPEAKE, Ohio — Mona Joyce Whitley, 88, of Chesapeake, died Saturday, June 25, 2016. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2016, at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, Ohio. Burial will follow in Rome Cemetery, Proctorville. Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Williams Jr., John - Gallipolis  
GALLIPOLIS — John Marshall Williams Jr., 73, of Gallipolis, died Sunday, June 26, 2016, at his residence. Born June 12, 1943, in Rockwood, Tenn., he was the son of the late John Marshall and Evelena Jones Williams Sr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ned Williams. John was a riverboat captain for many years. He and Suzy enjoyed going to flea markets, collecting items, especially guns and knives, and trading them. He never met a stranger, was well known by his family and others for having a big heart, and was willing to do anything for his family and friends. He also enjoyed playing the harmonica. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Janet Sue "Suzy" Williams, of Gallipolis, whom he married on Jan. 29, 1966; two sons, John Marshall (Monica Freeman) Williams III, of Gallipolis, and Mitch (Angie) Williams, of Gallipolis; two grandchildren, Tiana M. Williams and Todd M. Williams, both of Gallipolis; a sister, Martha Ann Aslin, of Minnesota; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, June 30, 2016, at Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home with pastors Gene Harmon and Kevin Plantz officiating. Burial will follow in Mound Hill Cemetery. Friends may call the funeral home between 6-9 p.m. Wednesday. An online guest registry is available at waugh-halley-wood.com .

SOUTHSIDE, W.Va. — Maxine Glendal Williamson, 90, of Southside, died Wednesday, June 22, 2016. A funeral service will be 3 p.m. Monday, June 27, 2016, at Harmony Baptist Church in Southside. Burial will follow at Harmony Cemetery in Southside. Visitation will be 6:30-9 p.m. Sunday at Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, W.Va.
