CROWN CITY — Floyd R. Fillinger, 83, of Crown City, passed away Sunday, May 4, 2014, at his residence.
He was born Aug. 31, 1930. in Gallia County, the son of the late Ferry and Emily Sanders Fillinger. Floyd was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He retired from Gallipolis Developmental Center and was a farmer.
Surviving are his daughter Peggy L. Heisel, of Centerville, Ohio; two sons, Henry Ray Fillinger, of Crown City, and Jerry L. (Tammy) Fillinger, of Point Pleasant, W.Va.; nine grandchildren: Andrew Jerome, Amber Dawn, Jerry Allen, Gina, Casey, Jessica, Courtney, Lynn Marie and Kaylin; five great-grandchildren; former wife, Pauline Wilson, of Centerville; four sisters, Frances VanPelt and Viola Slone, both of Gallipolis, Bonnie Rose, of Worthington, Ohio, and Helen Hart, of Athens, Ohio.
In addition to his parents, Floyd was preceded in death by daughter-in-law Tina Fillinger; sisters Rosalea Cornell and Janie Gladman; and brothers Buell Edward Fillinger, Virgil Fillinger, Russell Fillinger and Ferry Fillinger Jr.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday May 7, 2014, at Ridgelawn Cemetery with Pastor Alfred Holley officiating. Burial will follow. There will be military services by the Gallia County Funeral Detail. Willis Funeral Home is assisting the family.
