Karen Williams, 69, of Springfield, Ohio, passed away Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, in her home surrounded by her loving family and under the care of Hospice of the Miami Valley. She was born April 25, 1944, in Gallipolis to the late James and Edith Nibert.
Karen retired from Medway Elementary after teaching for more than 30 years. She continued to serve as a substitute teacher, was a member of Forest Valley Free Will Baptist Church, and was an avid golfer and reader.
Karen is survived by her two sons, Matthew, of Springfield, and Jason (Lisa) of Catawba; four grandchildren, Eric, Kiefer, Tiersa and Caleb; brothers-in-law Lee and Donald (Mary); sisters-in-law Janet Edwards and Renae (Steve) Willis; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarence (Edwin) Williams Jr., whom she married on July 11, 1970; two sisters, Sharon Miller and Janet Sullivan, and sister-in-law, Doris Shotts.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on Wednesday, February 12, 2014, followed by a funeral service at Forest Valley Free Will Baptist Church, 1821 Troy Road, Springfield with Pastors Dale Wallace and Charlie Crider officiating. Burial will be on Thursday, at February 13, 2014, at 3 p.m. in Fairmount Cemetery, Jackson.
