GALLIPOLIS — Barna Howell Lasseter, 78, of Gallipolis, passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at his residence.
He was born March 9, 1936 in Gadsden, Ala., son of the late Barna Ivey Lasseter and the former Sadie Luverne Fuhrman.
Howell retired from Goodyear and was a member of Chapel Hill Church of Christ. He enjoyed gardening and woodworking, and served in the Alabama National Guard. Although Howell had a very quiet exterior, he had a very sharp wit that will be missed by his family.
On Aug. 19, 1957, he married Alice Plants in Point Pleasant, W.Va., and she survives him, along with five children, Dr. David (Cheryl) Lasseter, of Chesapeake, Va., Tim (Vanessa) Lasseter, of Richmond, Va., Paul (Lisa) Lasseter, of Columbus, Ohio, Drew (Sandra) Lasseter, of Jacksonville, Fla., and Rachel (Terry) Lane, of Gallipolis; nine grandchildren: Brandon (Bre) Lasseter, Jeremi Lasseter, Josh Lasseter, Brandi Lasseter, Matthew Lasseter, Sarah Lasseter, Michelle Lasseter, Brittany (Aaron) Wothe and Ryan (Amanda) Carr; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother William Lasseter; and great-granddaughter Ave Mae Lasseter.
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 10, 2014, at Chapel Hill Church of Christ with Mr. Jonathan McAnulty officiating.
