GALLIPOLIS — Audrey Gennevieve Davis, 90, of Gallipolis went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at Arbors of Gallipolis.
Born on January 10, 1928 in Lesage, West Virginia, Audrey was the daughter of the late Elmer K. and Arnetta Fife Davis. Audrey was preceded in death by three brothers, Myron Davis, Leonard Davis, and Harry Davis. She developed several close friendships over the years among her teaching friends and church family.
Since 1943, Audrey faithfully attended and dedicated her life to the First Church of the Nazarene in Gallipolis and Wellston, Ohio. She became a Christian at the age of 12 and continued to walk with God from that time. During her teen years, Audrey was accepted and adopted by the First Church of the Nazarene in Gallipolis; this church remained as a close family relationship throughout her life.
In 1947-1948, Audrey pastored the Point Rock Church of the Nazarene in Point Rock, Ohio. In 1950, she pastored the Chester Hill Church of the Nazarene in Chester Hill, Ohio.
From 1952-1963, Audrey was Junior Church Pastor and Youth Director for the First Church of the Nazarene in Gallipolis. She continued her ministry at the Wellston Nazarene Church from 1963 until 1982 as their Junior Church Pastor, Adult Sunday School Class Teacher, and Pastor fill in during illnesses. Audrey was also a full-time elementary school teacher in the Gallia County Local Schools from 1952 to 1982. She retired from school and church in 1982. However, she returned to the Gallipolis Nazarene Church again as Junior Church Pastor, holding that position for a little over two years from 1982 until sometime in 1984.
Since 1984, Audrey remained an active prayer warrior for her church and all her church family and filled in as teacher and pastor when needed. Her main goal was to show Christ in her life and leave a legacy about God to any lives she might have touched.
Audrey was grateful to her Heavenly Father that she was able to teach school at a time when God was still allowed in the classroom. She was instrumental in sharing her love for Jesus to many young students who acclaim her teaching with their walk with God today. Audrey considered her teaching as a ministry to reach lives. The funeral service for Audrey will be 1 p.m. Monday, June 11, 2018 at the First Church of the Nazarene in Gallipolis, Ohio. Burial will follow in Ohio Valley Memory Gardens. Friends may call one hour before the funeral from noon until 1 p. m. at the church.

I have many memories of Audrey as I was growing up at Gallipolis First Church. She was a wonderful role model for us younger ones. After I got married we continued to have some good times together. She ws a very special person.
