Irene M. Sedon, 85, of West Maple Street, Hazleton, died Thursday evening surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Hazle Township, she was a daughter of the late Peter and Teofilia (Makoviecka) Novak.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, John Novak; her sisters, Leona Ciganik and Helen Sency.
Irene was employed by the former Duplan Silk Mill for more than 10 years. She was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Parish at Transfiguration Roman Catholic Church, West Hazleton.
Surviving are her loving husband, Nicholas Sedon, to whom she had been married for 63 years; her son, Nicholas J. Sedon and his wife, Theresa, Hazleton; her daughters, Gloria McAlarney and her husband, Edward, Hazleton; Janet Hunsinger, Nadine Lahti and her husband, Glenn, of Florida; her brother, Stanley Novak, Chambersburg; her sister, Dorothy Quinn, Milnesville; grandchildren, Laura Lee Brotzman, Keith McAlarney, Eugene Hunsinger, Lisa Mariano; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 9:30 a.m. from the John J. Pusti Funeral Home Inc., 480 W. Broad St., Hazleton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in Transfiguration Roman Catholic Church, West Hazleton. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Drums. A public visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday.
