Marion Doris Knelly Kroll, of Kingston, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 15, 2013, at Manor Care in Kingston.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late Ralph F. Knelly and Florence Erlich Knelly. She was a graduate of James M. Coughlin High School, Class of 1942.
Doris was an employee of the federal government from 1942 to 1944 in Washington, D.C., and Newark, N.J. She was also an employee for four dentists in the Wyoming Valley for more than 40 years: Drs. Roy and Robert Goulstone, Dr. Robert Conway and Dr. Robert Kester.
Doris was an active member of Dorranceton United Methodist Church, Kingston, and served on many of its committees. She also was an active volunteer for the American Red Cross and the John Heinz Gift Shop.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; her father, mother and brother, Robert.
She is survived by her beloved children, Charles T. Kroll Jr. and Sherry Taylor, Boiling Springs; Karen and her husband, Samuel Joseph, Kingston; grandchildren, Carin Anne and Gregg Schmidt, Landisville; Christopher Kroll, Mt. Joy; Keira McNeill and her companion, Tim Needle, Edwardsville; and Kendra and Dominic Buonsante, Forty Fort; nine great-grandchildren, Owen and Patrick Schmidt, Tannar and Kaylie Kroll, Samuel and Zoe McNeill, Benjamin and Brady Buonsante and T.J. Needle.
A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, followed immediately by a memorial service at Hugh B. Hughes & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1044 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort, with the Rev. Nicholas Keeney officiating.
