Roberta N. Hess, of Pringle, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013, with her loving family by her side.

She was born on July 13, 1931 in Plymouth, a daughter of the late Raymond and Theresa (Costick) Busch. Due to the untimely passing of her mother, she left school at the age of 16 to help raise her brothers and sisters.

In 1952, Roberta returned to school and graduated from St. Vincent's High School of Plymouth. After graduation, she began a career in the business field at the Plymouth National Bank and Mercy Hospital of Wilkes-Barre. She later retired from Social Security.

She was an avid reader. She also loved traveling, square dancing, crocheting, crossword puzzles and flower gardening.

Roberta married her husband, Robert Alan, in June of 1958 and had 49 wonderful years of marriage before his passing on Dec. 5, 2007.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased in death by her infant son, Robert Mark; sister, Shirley (Hess) Johnson, and her husband, Wilbur; and brothers-in-law, Gordon Hess, Fred Fehlinger Sr., Pete Lewis and Joseph Hrobak.

Roberta will be deeply missed by her sons, Craig Hess and his wife, Renee, Hanover Township, and Jeff Hess, at home; and the joy of her life, her granddaughter, Samantha (Sammie). She is also survived by her siblings, Gerald L. Busch and his wife, Diane, Luzerne; Sue Hrobak, Sheatown; Pat Emery and her husband, Rick, Ashley, and Raymond Busch, Plymouth; sister and brother-in-law, Eileen and Albert Crawley, Pond Hill; sisters-in-law, Marie Lewis, Pond Hill, and Jean Hess, Indiana; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Roberta's family wished to express their gratitude to nurses Denise and Maggie at Commonwealth Hospice for the care and compassion extended to Roberta and her family.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 2011 State Route 29, Hunlock Creek. Interment will follow in St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery, Larksville.
