David Lynn Caffery, 60, of rural Roodhouse, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at his residence.
He was born June 15, 1952, in White Hall, the son of the late Carrol and Ruth (Ashlock) Caffery, formerly of Delavan. He married Lorrie (Smith) on Sept. 14, 1996, in rural White Hall.
David attended Delavan High School, graduating June 5, 1970. After high school he attended Illinois State University, until enlisting in the U.S. Air Force
in 1972, and being discharged Feb. 3, 1976. After serving in the military, Mr. Caffery attended the University of New Mexico, graduating with degrees in Political Science and History. He completed his studies, receiving a Master's in Business from New Mexico Highlands University. He was employed at Stix Envelope Company in Roodhouse.
Surviving are his wife, Lorrie at home; and his children, David (Seda) Cuyler of Port Ewen, N.Y., and Bethany (Zachary) Farris of Jacksonville. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Tyler of Port Ewen, N.Y., and Molly and Sawyer, both of Jacksonville; a sister, Debra (Andy) Goewey of Pekin; and a brother, Dennis (Diane) Caffery of Hopedale. Mr. Caffery is also survived by one very special aunt, Lois (Jerry) Sorrells of rural Roodhouse; and numerous nieces and nephews. Proceeding him in death were two uncles, Dean Caffery and Richard Ashlock; and an aunt, Irene Caffery.
David was an active member of Manchester Baptist Church, where he was a member of the worship band and taught an adult Sunday school class. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, living on the farm and playing his guitar.
The family will meet friends from noon to 2 p.m. prior to the Celebration of Life service that will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Manchester Baptist Church. Memorials can be made to the Manchester Baptist Church or the
