Donald Wayne Bradley, 70, of Meredosia, died Thursday, July 7, 2011, at his residence.
He was born Sept. 21, 1940, in Camp Point, the son of Russell L. and Anna Ellaree (Buskirk) Bradley. He married Donna F. Knight on Nov. 12, 1960, in Meredosia.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Donny (Stephanie) Bradley of Meredosia and Doug Bradley of Marine; seven grandchildren, Matt (Jennifer) Crow of Versailles, Christine (Michael) Schlieker and Corey (Krystal) Bradley, both of Jacksonville, Joel and Drew Bradley of Marine, Megan Diesen of Effingham and Caitlin Diesen of Decatur; seven great-grandchildren, Collin and Evan Schlieker, Reese Bradbury and Carter Crow, Aaron Holmes, Piper and Madison Bradley; six brothers and sisters, Richard (Alberta) Bradley of Meredosia, Russell "Pete" (Marilyn) Bradley and Judith (Robert) Farmer, both of Jacksonville, Kenneth (Janet) Bradley of East Moline, Debra Myers of Palmyra and Mark Bradley of Meredosia.
Mr. Bradley was a member of the Naples United Methodist Church. He was employed at National Starch before taking ownership of Knight's Implement in Meredosia. He served on the Meredosia Fire Department and Rescue Squad and also coached Little League baseball. Mr. Bradley enjoyed boating, hunting, dancing to country music, and the St. Louis Cardinals, but he was happiest when watching his kids and grandkids participate in sports.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Sunday at Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Meredosia, with burial to follow at Oakland Cemetery. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, where the family will meet friends from 5-7 p.m. Memorials are suggested to The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration or the Meredosia Rescue Squad.
