Doug N. Anderson, 49, of Virginia, died Monday, April 30, 2012, at Heartland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph, Mo.
He was born March 1, 1963, in Xenia, Ohio, the son of Robert W. and Rosemary J. Bethel Anderson.
He is survived by a son, Cole Anderson of Virginia; a sister, Audrey Cox (husband, David) of rural Virginia; a brother, Wyatt Anderson (wife, Karen) of Chandlerville; a niece; and four nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Anderson was a 1981 graduate of Virginia High School. He owned and operated the South Side Tavern in Virginia twice over a 10-year period and later was an engineer for the BNSF Railroad in Beardstown. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Virginia. Doug enjoyed entertaining friends, riding motorcycles, and navigating the Illinois River in his boats. He was a seasoned gardener and accomplished cook.
Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at the First Presbyterian Church in Virginia where the family will meet friends from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
