James O. "Jim" Carmean, 68, of Meredosia, died Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013, in North Kansas City, Mo.
He was born Sept. 7, 1945, at the family home near Manchester, the son of Glen Franklin and Nora Madelyn McEvers Carmean. He married Janet R. McDaniel on Jan. 16, 1965, in Meredosia, and she survives.
He is also survived by three sons and one daughter, Michael (Patty) Carmean of Catlin, Daniel (Erica) Carmean of Quincy, Jimmy (Michelle) Carmean of Versailles and Karen (Jacob) Tudor of Melbourne, Fla.; 11 grandchildren, Alex, Zachary, Leslie, Samantha, Amber, Tristen, Evan and Erin Carmean and Ellie, Brooke and Jet Tudor; three brothers, Frank Carmean of Las Vegas, George (MaryAnn) Carmean of Astoria and Robert "Bob" Carmean of Bluffs; 24 nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, William Carmean (surviving wife, Jean Klopfer, and her husband, Ernest, of Meredosia) and Donald Carmean (surviving wife, Rose Koon, and her husband, Ed, of San Angelo, Texas).
Mr. Carmean was an over-the-road truck driver for many years and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force
. He loved sports and was a die-hard Cubs fan. He also enjoyed watching the eagles along the Illinois River. Jim never turned down anyone in need. He loved and took pride in his children and grandchildren. His family was his life.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Meredosia, with burial at Oakland Cemetery. The family will meet friends 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
