Joseph A. Cobb, 82, of rural Ashland, died Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at his home.
He was born Sept. 22, 1930, in Jacksonville, the son of Andrew J. and Florence Bourn Cobb.
Mr. Cobb is survived by three nephews, James Andrew "Andy" (wife, Deb) Cobb of Roanoke, Va., Mark A. Cobb of Sherman and Michael A. Cobb of Jacksonville; one niece, Rebecca "Becca" (husband, Gary) Upchurch of rural Ashland; and great-nieces and great-nephews, Annabel (husband, Ron) Pack of Grand Forks, N.D., Virginia (husband, Nick) Nordberg of Portsmouth, Va., Ivy Cobb of Roanoke, Va., Matthew Cobb of Sherman and Kassidy Upchurch of rural Ashland. He was preceded in death by one brother, James A. Cobb (surviving wife, Betty of rural Ashland); and two sisters, Lorraine Cobb and Betty M. Cobb.
Mr. Cobb was employed at Qualex in Jacksonville for over 30 years. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force
, serving in the Military Police during the Korean War
. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ-Latter Day Saints. Mr. Cobb enjoyed hunting and fishing and caring for his cats.
