Michael G. "Mike" Hamilton, 70, of Winchester, passed away early Monday morning, Dec. 31, 2012, at his home.
He was born Dec. 19, 1942, in White Hall, the son of the late Roy D. "Doc" and Rita Evans Hamilton. He married Betty Snyder on March 28, 1964, in Glasgow.
Mike attended Winchester schools, and was an operating engineer for 32 years with Local 965, the last 13 years primarily working for Truman L. Flatt and Sons. He retired in 2004. He was a U.S. Army
veteran, serving his country in Vietnam.
Mike enjoyed NASCAR, sitting on his porch, frying fish and making the vegetable soup for the Snyder family Christmas.
Surviving is his wife, Betty at home; his daughter, Michelle Lynne (husband, Kenny) Amdal and his son, Michael Shane (wife, Denise) Hamilton, both of Winchester; grandchildren, Mariah and Morgan Saxbury, and Kaylee and Nicholas Hamilton; great-grandchildren, Jadyn and Khase; his sister, Robie Newberry of Winchester; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Elvira.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Coonrod Funeral Home in Winchester. Burial will be at Winchester City Cemetery where military honors will be conducted. Friends may call from 12 noon until the time of the service Friday at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to the
