Virginia Kay Anderson, 72, of Springfield, and formerly of Virginia, died Wednesday, April 27, 2011, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
She was born March 23, 1939, in Jacksonville, the daughter of W. R. "Bob" and Sadie Kloker Hierman. She married Lyle Anderson on March 18, 1962, in Virginia, and he survives.
She is also survived by three sons, Chris Anderson of Franklin, Tenn., Douglas Anderson (wife, Mya) of Cypress, Calif., and Darren Anderson of Springfield; three grandchildren, Nathan, Matthew and Luke Anderson, all of Cypress, Calif.; and a cousin, Marilyn Jean Briney of Naples, Fla., who was raised in the family home. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Mrs. Anderson was a 1957 graduate of Virginia High School and assisted her husband in the operation of Hierman's appliance store in Virginia. She served as an election judge and was a former board member of the Virginia Memorial Public Library. She was a member of Virginia United Methodist Church and the Virginia Lioness Club. She enjoyed playing cards with friends, reading and crossword puzzles.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at the Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Virginia, with burial at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia. The family will meet friends from 10 a.m. Saturday until the time of services. Memorial gifts are suggested to Virginia United Methodist Church or Virginia Memorial Public Library.
