Harold W. "Doc" Camden

1930 - 2009

Harold W. "Doc" Camden, 78, died at 9:35 p.m. Friday, March 6, 2009, at his home near Carrollton.
Born in Bunker, Mo., on June 24, 1930, he was the son of the late Radious and Elsie Wilkins Camden. He married the former Louise Varble in Carrollton on Dec. 5, 1949, and she survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Jeniece (husband, Charles) Withrow of Carrollton and Tawnya (fiance, Jeff Lange) Camden of St. Peters, Mo.; two sons, Lanis (wife, Joy) Camden of Carrollton and Vic Camden of Belltown; eight grandchildren, Ryan (wife, Melanie) Camden, Brad (wife, Erin) Camden, Judy (husband, Mark) Schaefer, Jason (wife, Jenny) Withrow, Lachelle (husband, Josh) Hallock, Sabrina Camden, Josh (wife, Crystal) Camden and Daniel Rogers; and eight great-grandchildren, Jaelyn, Matthew and Megan Camden, Jake and Abby Schaefer, Jenna and Jaecee Camden and Christian Joseph Hallock. There are two brothers, Carl (wife, Mary) Camden of Salt Lake City, and Larry (wife, Donna) Camden of Quincy; a sister, Minnie Jane (husband, Al) Buss of Quincy; and a sister-in-law, Peggy Camden of Carrollton also surviving. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Ed, Bernell and Tom Camden as well as his parents.
"Doc" worked at Alton Boxboard (Jefferson Smurfit) for 35 years, retiring in 1988. He was a devoted husband and father. He will be sadly missed.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton. Services will be held Monday at the funeral home at 1 p.m. with burial to follow at the Carrollton City Cemetery.
