Carol Anne (Snow) Cota, 77, of Decatur and formerly of Virginia and Springfield, died Thursday, June 26, 2014, at St. Mary's Hospital in Decatur.
She was born May 19, 1937, in Jacksonville, the daughter of Dr. Herbert A. and Kathleen Conover Snow. She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by two sons, Albert Anthony "Tony" Cota of Ensenada, Mexico and Edwin Christian "Chris" Cota of Springfield; two grandchildren, Brian Cota and Natalie Cota, both of Springfield; two brothers, Herbert Snow (wife, Linda) of Virginia and the Rev. Edwin Snow (wife, Kathy) of Chattanooga, Tennessee; three nieces and two nephews.
Carol was a graduate of Virginia High School and Northwestern University. She continued her studies at the University of the Americas in Caracas, Venezuela, and was awarded a master's degree from Mexico City College. She did advanced studies at Arizona State University and taught high school in Scottsdale, Arizona, prior to being disabled. After returning to Illinois, Carol served as a volunteer for a day care center in Springfield.
Graveside funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Monday at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia with a reception for family and friends to follow at the Virginia United Methodist Church in Virginia. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts are suggested to the Virginia Public School Foundation. The Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Virginia is in charge of the arrangements.
