Christopher Carl Miller, 58, of Jacksonville passed Saturday morning, July 26, 2014, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
He was born August 2, 1955, in Jacksonville, the son of George and Suzanne Walech Miller. He married Donna Harrell in Charleston, South Carolina, and she survives.
He also is survived by one daughter, Abby Miller (companion, Larry Brockhouse) of Jacksonville; his mother, Suzanne Miller of Lenoir, North Carolina; one stepson, Rusty (wife, Polly) McGinnis of Belaire, Maryland; four grandchildren, Dylan, Jasmine, Drake and Arian; two stepgrandchildren, twins Conner and Aiden; four brothers, Nicholas (wife, Trina) Miller of Rockford, Charles (wife, Yrma) Miller of Lenoir, Steven (wife, Sandy) Miller of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Mark (wife, Nancy) Miller of Rockford; one sister, Sandra (husband, Paul) Dierks of Cincinnati; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father.
Chris had been employed by TWR as a cell tower builder. He served in the United States Marine Corp. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, working on cars and designing and building things. He traveled extensively, having been around the world four times. He never knew a stranger and was the life of the party.
The family will host a Celebration of Chris's Life and Birthday at 3 p.m. Saturday, August 2, 2014, at his home, 771 E. College Ave., in Jacksonville. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family to help defray funeral expenses and may be brought to Williamson Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.
