David Robert Brickey, 74, of rural Murrayville, passed away surrounded by his family Friday evening, March 21, 2014, at his home. He was born April 16, 1939, in Jacksonville, the son of Francis and Nellie Thady Brickey. He married Sharon Weems on Nov. 29, 1957, and she survives.
He is also survived by 10 children; Jonathan Brickey of Jacksonville, Tammie (husband, Tim) Welch of Bluffs, Jim (wife, Jody) Brickey of Murrayville, Audry Brickey of Murrayville, Jennifer Brickey of Jacksonville, Gina (husband, James) Ratliff of Murrayville, Waylon Brickey of Murrayville, Shelly (husband, James) Crayne of Hidden Valley Lake, Calif., Ben (wife, Michelle) Brickey of Jacksonville and Seth (wife, Stacy) Brickey of Murrayville; 28 grandchildren; and 39 great-grandchildren; one sister, Lucille Lovett of Jacksonville; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Joshua Brickey; and a step-grandson, T.J. Welch; his parents and in-laws; three brothers; five sisters; several brothers and sisters-in-laws; and several nieces and nephews.
David was a U.S. Army veteran, mechanic, truck driver, farmer, and worked at ISVI for many years. He was also pastor of Gates To Glory Ministries near Murrayville.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Gates To Glory Ministries, 497 Thady Road, Murrayville, with family meeting friends from noon until time of service. Memorials are suggested to Gates To Glory Ministries in lieu of flowers. Daws Family Funeral Homes have been entrusted with the services.
