Jonas "Homer" Ribble, 70, of Hettick, died Saturday morning, March 16, 2013, at Vermillion Manor Nursing Home in Tilton.
He was born Dec. 19, 1942, in Carlinville, the son of the late Jonas and Thelma Angelo Ribble.
Surviving is one brother, Terry Ribble and wife Bonnie of Springfield; two nieces, Cindy Stouffe and husband Gary of Palmyra and Becky Green and husband Earl of Bethalto; four nephews, Audie Ribble and wife Peggy Jo and Chris Ribble and wife Peggy Sue, both of Hettick, Martin Ribble and wife Dawn of Chatham and Brent Ribble and wife Amy of Chesterfield, Mo.; 16 great-nieces and great-nephews; several great-great nieces and great-great nephews; and a sister-in-law, Melba Ribble of Hettick. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother George "Bing" Ribble.
Homer was a member of the former Barr Baptist Church and a current member Palmyra Christian Church for many years. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during Vietnam. Homer farmed west of Hettick on the family farm.
Funeral services will be held 12 p.m. Wednesday at the Stults-Neece Chapel in Palmyra. Burial will be at Gilead Cemetery in Hettick. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday at the chapel. Memorials may be made to the Hettick Volunteer Fire Department c/o Stults-Neece Chapel in Palmyra.
