Lloyd F. "'Budd'" Davis (1928 - 2014)

WHITE HALL - Lloyd F. "Budd" Davis, 86, of White Hall passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at White Hall Nursing and Rehab Center.

He was born in Mason City on January 9, 1928, son of Charles and Gertrude (Dennis) Davis. He married Mayme Eddy on September 27, 1947, in White Hall.

Budd served in the United States Navy from February 1944 to May 1946, was a member of White Hall First Christian Church and White Hall VFW and retired from Beecham Labs in White Hall. During his life he enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening, reading and daily writing in his journal. He always wanted to be involved in both sons' remodeling, building and woodworking projects.

He is survived by two sons, Charles "Chuck" Davis (wife, Karen) of West Frankfort and Gene Davis (companion, Cheri Harp Madson) of White Hall; eight grandchildren, Budd Benson, Patricia Jo Benson, Crista Hamm, Jared Davis, Jessica Davis, Chad Davis, Nanette Elliott and Shane McDaniel; 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a daughter, Barbara Lee Hamilton; a brother, Robert Davis; a sister, Bette (Davis) Bland; and an infant grandson, Lyndell Benson.

A Celebration of Life Service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 7, 2014, at White Hall First Christian Church with burial in White Hall Cemetery. Family will meet friends at the church from 10:30 to 11:00 prior to the service. Memorials are suggested to White Hall First Christian Church.
