Ray Dean "Duke" Crawford, 74, of Bluffs, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012, at Heritage Health in Jacksonville.
He was born April 6, 1938, in Scott County. Ray was the son of Joe and Nettie Bilyeu Crawford. He married Elizabeth Jobe in 1961, in Chambersburg. They later divorced.
Surviving are two sons, Michael (wife, Cristine) Crawford of Jacksonville and Jeffrey Crawford of Springfield; three grandchildren, Andy, Alison and Katherine Crawford; two brothers, Don Crawford of Flora and Jerry (wife, Diane) Crawford of Bethalto; and one sister, Maxine (husband, Raymond) Ghrist of Bourbon, Mo. An infant son, Ronald Dean Crawford; and three brothers, Harold, Bill and Robert Crawford preceded him in death.
Ray was employed by National Starch and Chemical for 35 years before retiring. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the Bluffs American Legion. He enjoyed playing cards and hunting. He was a loving father and grandfather who took exceptional pride in his grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at the Mackey Daws Funeral Home in Winchester, with interment at the Winchester City Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Bluffs American Legion. Condolences may be left online at www.mackeydaws.com.
