Thelma "Totty" Blimling, 89, a lifelong resident of Murrayville, passed away Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014, in the home where she was born in Murrayville. She was born April 25, 1924, the daughter of W.W. and Sarah Jones Mehrhoff. She married Donald Blimling on May 20, 1945, in Murrayville. He preceded her in death on Nov. 16, 2003.

Surviving are her children, Lana (Terry) Woodward of Altamont, Ron (Tina) Blimling and Jeri Kay (Clinton) Cain, all of Visalia, Calif., and Mark (Debbie) Blimling of Murrayville; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and two sisters, Dorcas Shannon of Naples, Fla., and Carol Day of Louisville, Ky. Two sisters, Mary Peccolo and Helen Sutton, preceded her in death.
Totty was a homemaker and raised her family in the wonderful town of Murrayville. She was employed as a bookkeeper for both John Deere and Murrayville Elevator. She also worked at the Murrayville post office for several years before retiring. She was a member of and attended Murrayville United Methodist Church all her life. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinal and University of Illinois fan. Totty loved cooking, gardening, flowers of all kinds, children and playing pinochle with her lifelong Murrayville friends.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Murrayville United Methodist Church with interment at Murrayville City Cemetery. Family will meet friends from noon until time of the service Saturday at the church. Memorials are suggested to Murrayville United Methodist Church or Murrayville EAS.
