Bob Glyshaw, 68, of Franklin, died Sunday, May 6, 2012, at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville.
He was born Dec. 19, 1943, in Port Huron, Mich., the son of Martin and Hermine Selzer Glyshaw. He married Patty Flint on June 19, 1982, in Glen Ellyn, and she survives.
He is also survived by two sons, Mark (wife, Kim) Glyshaw of St. Louis and Brian Glyshaw of Bloomington; three grandchildren, Kayla, Noah and Josiah Glyshaw, all of St. Louis; one brother, Jack (wife, Marge) Glyshaw of Bellaire, Mich.; and one sister, Barb (husband, Ron) Sanderson of Kimball, Mich. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Suzanne Glyshaw and Nancy Hinkly.
Bob worked for J.C. Penney for 37 years. He managed the Jacksonville store from 1996 until his retirement in 2004. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Bob was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Jacksonville. He served as a village trustee in Franklin, and was a volunteer for Prairie Council on Aging. He loved working in his yard, tending to his flowers and fish pond, and loved cars and country music. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to others.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Faith Lutheran Church in Jacksonville. The family will meet friends from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the Williamson Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service at the church Thursday morning.
