The Rev. Carl L Beery, 71, of Greenfield passed away Monday, December 23, 2013, at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville. He was born June 29, 1942, in Clinton to Guy and Bernice Sharp Beery. He married Karen Ballance on August 31, 1961, in Mount Vernon, and she survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Vicky (Rick) Burrell and Debora (Bill) Carson, both of Clinton, and Tammi Beery of Tacoma, Wash.; five grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a sister, Katherine Clark of Moneta, Va.; a brother, John (Barb) Beery of Oswego; a sister-in-law, Dixie of Wheaton; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, one brother and one brother-in-law.
The Rev. Beery became a minister in 1968 with United Pentecostal Church International and has pastored loved ones and friends in Palmyra, Jacksonville, Heyworth and, most recently, Greenfield for the past 12 years. He was the founder and owner of Beery Irrigation. He enjoyed hunting, woodworking, Southern gospel music and special time with family.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until time of the funeral service at 4 p.m. Sunday at Bethlehem Tabernacle Church in Greenfield. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Woodlawn Cemetery in Clinton. Memorials are suggested to the Carl Beery Memorial Fund. Shields-Bishop Funeral Home in Greenfield is in charge of arrangements.
