Clarabel Alred, 92, of Paxton, passed away at 7:53 a.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2014, at Presence Covenant Medical Center, Urbana.
Mrs. Alred was born May 13, 1922, in Murrayville, Morgan County, the daughter of Ellis and Stelle McCallister Grider. She married Clifford L. Alred on Nov. 3, 1943, at Rockford. He preceded her in death July 14, 2008.
She is survived by one son, Emory (Jill) Alred of Rantoul; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter; one son; one brother; and three sisters.
Mrs. Alred graduated from Murrayville High School. She worked in food service for the Paxton school system for many years. Clarabel was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Paxton and the United Methodist Women. She enjoyed cooking at her church, quilting, sewing, and camping.
