David Edward Barnett, 63, of Alsey, passed away Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, at the Illinois Veterans' Home in Quincy.

He was born July 13, 1949, in Jacksonville, the son of Kenneth Edward and Mary Louise Todd Barnett.
Surviving are three children, David Barnett of Murrayville, MSgt Rebecca Lynn (husband, Phil) Sawin of Wasilla, Alaska, and Jennifer Wood of Winchester; his mother, Mary Louis Barnett of Winchester; four grandchildren, Blake Barnett, Ethan and Karter Moore and Bryce Sawin; and two sisters, Kathryn Baldwin of Chatham and Linda (husband, Bob) White of Normal. David's father, Kenneth, preceded him in death.
David was of the Baptist faith. He was a career Air Force veteran, serving from 1969 until 1989. He retired from the service as a MSGT, receiving many decorations, including the Bronze Star. David was employed as a truck driver for Landes Trucking, Inc. in Jacksonville. He was a member of the Winchester VFW.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at the Daws Family Home in Winchester, with interment at Glasgow Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of the service at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Glasgow Cemetery. Condolences may be left online at www.mackeydaws.com.
