David Ray Arnold, 73, of Meredosia, died Thursday, Aug. 28, 2008, at his son's home in Byron.
David was born April 21, 1935, the son of Raymond and Florence Schuessler Arnold. He married Sue Ann Reining, and they later divorced.
He is survived by a son, Randy Irvin Arnold (former wife, Betty) of Byron; three granddaughters, Bethney Dufoe (husband, Chris) and Amanda Arnold, both of Byron, and Kristina Arnold of Rockford; one sister, Anne Kerker (husband, Robert) of Augusta; two nephews, Steve James and Cliff James and families; and special friend, Mary Rausch and her daughters, Allison, Angie, Kara, Patty and Mindy and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter in infancy, Leticia; a brother, Gene Arnold; and a nephew.
David was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Korea. He was a graduate of Bluffs High School. He retired from National Starch in Meredosia. He also worked for the railroad and helped on the family farm in Bluffs. He loved being with his family and friends and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Sunday at Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Meredosia, with burial at Oakland Cemetery. The family will meet friends 2-3 p.m. prior to the service.
