Debra Sue Plogger Elhoffer, 53, of Carrollton, passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2012, in Jerseyville.
She was born Dec. 16, 1958, in Jacksonville, to Hal and Edna Vinyard Plogger. She married Sam Elhoffer on Aug. 12, 1978, in Greenfield, and he survives.
Also surviving are her mother, Edna of Rockbridge; two daughters, Amy (husband, Brett) Oxley of Mascoutah and Jill, at home; one son, Patrick, at home; five sisters, Sherry (husband, Garry) White of Greenfield, Linda (husband, Tom) Prough of Carrollton, Mary Kaye (husband, Mike) Varble of Carrollton, Barb (husband, Chris) Teaney of Greenfield and Jeanne (husband, David) Steinacher of Carrollton; six brothers, Kenny (wife, Rita) Plogger of Wrights, Bob (companion, Becky Walden) Plogger of Rockbridge, John (wife, Becky) Plogger of Rockbridge, Mick (companion, Paula Miller) Plogger of Rockbridge, Ron (wife, Jan) Plogger of Greenfield and Dan (wife, Kim) Plogger of High Ridge, Mo.; two sisters-in-law, Cindy Plogger Pembrook of Greenfield and Sarah Elhoffer of Milton, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews. She was proceeded in death by her father, Hal; one brother, Bill Plogger; her mother-in-law, Lois Elhoffer; her father-in-law, Ronald Elhoffer; one nephew; and two nieces.
She worked various jobs, but she truly enjoyed serving as a preschool teacher's aide and stay-at-home mom. She loved shopping and socializing with family and friends. She attended the First Baptist Church of Greenfield. She was an active supporter and participant in Relay for Life, enjoyed helping at the church, and loved attending her children's activities.
Cremation rites have been accorded. The family will meet friends from 4-8 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Greenfield Thursday. A memorial service will be held there at 10:30 a.m. Friday, with Pastor John Pattison officiating. Shields-Bishop Funeral Home in Greenfield is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials are suggested to The Blessing Hospice, Jerseyville Manor Bounce Back and First Baptist Church of Greenfield.
