Eileen Heaton Leavell, 95, of rural Winchester, died Sunday evening, April 8, 2012, at the Jacksonville Nursing and Rehab Center in Jacksonville.

She was born Oct. 2, 1916, in Scott County, the daughter of Ira and Essie Walker Wright. She married Gerald E. Heaton on Oct. 26, 1941, and he preceded her in death Oct. 27, 1964. She later married R. Gloyd Leavell on Nov. 30, 1968, and he preceded her in death Dec. 1, 1985.
She is survived by five sons, Gordon Heaton (wife, Lisa) of Highlands Ranch, Colo., John Heaton (wife, Joyce) of Lynnville, Warren Heaton (wife, Carol) of Lynnville, Rodger Heaton (wife, Mary Lou) of Jacksonville and Rollin Heaton (wife, Jeni) of Annandale, N.J.; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a brother, Lawrence Wright (wife, Beulah) of Chatham; a sister, Mildred Williams of O'Fallon, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Lloyd Wright, Lyndell Wright, Verlin Wright, William Wright and Harold Wright; and two sisters, Eloise Wright and Jeane Schnell.
Mrs. Leavell was a graduate of Winchester High School and was employed by Dr. Jones' medical office in Winchester for several years. She later worked at the Illinois Secretary of State's Drivers Licensing Examining Station in Jacksonville. She was a devoted member of Lynnville Christian Church for 70 years and was a member and past president of the church's Christian Women's Fellowship. Eileen was also a participant in Explorer's Bible Study for several years.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Jacksonville, with burial at Memorial Lawn Cemetery, south of Jacksonville. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Thursday. Memorial gifts are suggested to the Lynnville Christian Church.
