Gary W. Angelo, 59, of rural Roodhouse, passed away Sunday, Aug. 16, 2009, at his home.
He was born Aug. 26, 1949, in Carlinville, to Thomas and Lucille (Pence) Angelo. His mother survives in Mitchell. He married Sandy Stratton on Aug. 2, 1985, in Bethalto, and she survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Erica (Eric) Shanks of Lynnville, Jodi (Brian) Pruitt of Greenfield and Jennifer Geninatti of Jacksonville; one son, Terry Skiles Angelo of Dallas; four grandchildren, Colton Shanks, Darby Shanks, Isaac McAdams and Benjamin Pruitt; three brothers, Lynn (Theresa) Angelo of Carlinville, Coy (Jane) Angelo of Guilford, Conn., and Steve Angelo of Alton; two stepsisters, Nancy Marczak of Mitchell and Marilyn (Bruce) Ward of Godfrey; and two stepbrothers, Dick (Carol) McHatton of East Alton and Joe (Gail) McHatton of Mexico, Mo. He was preceded in death by his father; two brothers, Lyle and Frank Angelo; his stepfather, Benny McHatton; and a stepsister, Marge.
Mr. Angelo was a disabled veteran having served in the U.S. Army from 1967 to 1970 during the Vietnam War.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Shields-Bishop Funeral Home in Greenfield. Cemetery Chapel services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, with full military honors provided by the Missouri National Guard. Memorials may be made to the donors choice.
