Helen "Scotty" Bowman, 86, of Greenfield, died Sunday, Sept. 22,2013, at her home.
She was born Aug. 10, 1927, in Glasgow, Scotland, to Stewart and Flora (Murray) Green. She married G.P. Bowman in April 1954, and he preceded her in death in November 1982. She married Dupree Strang, and he also preceded her in death.
Surviving are four children, Maggie (Jim) Keehner of Greenville, N.C., Linda (Charlie) Bierman of Shipman, Sandy (Mike) Bowman of Heyworth and Larry (Denise) Bowman of Carlinville; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters; and one brother in Scotland.
Helen was a member of the St. Michael Church in Greenfield. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and cross-stitching. She played the organ at St. Catherine's Church in Hagaman and St. Michael's Church in Greenfield for many years.
Visitation will be from 9-10:45 a.m. Thursday at the Shields-Bishop Funeral Home in Greenfield. A mass will be celebrated at the St. Michael Church in Greenfield at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Catherine's Cemetery in Hagaman. Memorials are suggested to the
