Joanne Cox, 80, of Greenfield, died Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2011, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.
She was born Sept. 4, 1931, in White Hall, to James B. and Irene (White) Hicks. She married Paul Cox on April 16, 1950, in White Hall, and he preceded her in death Aug. 10, 2002.
She is survived by three sons, David (Barb) of Palmyra and Rick (Ida) and Brian (Ruby), both of Greenfield; six grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Jimmy Hicks.
Mrs. Cox was a member of the Charity Southern Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and played the piano for 42 years. She worked for JoAnn Sponsler's accounting service for many years.
Visitation will be Friday from 4-8 p.m. at Shields-Bishop Funeral Home in Greenfield. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Charity Southern Baptist Church in Greenfield.
