Kimberly Marie Battefeld, 44, of Lewistown, died Sunday, Oct. 11, 2009, at Mason District Hospital in Havana.
She was born Dec. 6, 1964, in Washington, Mo., the daughter of Kenneth and Virginia "Toody" Neier Painter. She married Michael Battefeld on Sept. 7, 1985, in Dutzow, Mo., and he survives.
She is also survived by her parents of Dutzow, Mo.; three children, Katie Battefeld, Kevin Battefeld and Mallory Battefeld, all at home; one sister, Dianna (Joe) Voss of Cuba, Mo.; and nephew and niece, Jacob and Samantha Voss.
Mrs. Battefeld was a 1983 graduate of St. Francis Borgia High School in Washington, Mo. She then graduated as a Registered Nurse from Missouri Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in St. Louis. She was a Kidney Dialysis nurse at Fresenius Medical Care in Canton, and had great compassion for the patients she cared for. Kim was a member of St. James Episcopal Church in Lewistown. She was also a member of Illinois Tractor Pulling Association and Lewistown High School Boosters Club. She had a competitive spirit and she loved her pets. She was very proud of her children and enjoyed watching their many activities.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Dutzow, Mo., with burial at the church cemetery. The family will meet friends 1-3 p.m. Wednesday afternoon at Church of the Nazarene in Lewistown, and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday evening at Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Meredosia. They will also meet friends 11 a.m.-1 p.m. prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Memorials are suggested to an education fund for her children through Farmers State Bank of Fulton County, 105 W. Lincoln, Lewistown, IL. 61542.
