Michael R. Ashcraft, 62, of Springfield, and formerly of Beardstown, died Monday, June 28, 2010, at his residence.
He was born Jan. 22, 1948, in Moline, the son of Herman "Hody" and Velma Spillers Ashcraft. He married Linda Lyons on Aug. 21, 1977, in Beardstown, and she survives.
Mr. Ashcraft was employed by Springfield School District 186, as a special education teacher, teaching at various schools within the district before retiring in 2005. He was a lifelong dog-lover, enjoyed computers and was an avid Notre Dame football and Elvis fan.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Virginia, with burial at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia.
