Thomas Lemons Obituary
He was born Dec. 1, 1926, in Milton, a son of Bert O. and Trula Marie Chandler Lemons. He married Leona Ruble on May 9, 1948, and later married Carla Johnston on Nov. 8, 1996, in Hannibal, Mo., and she survives.
Thomas was a grain and livestock farmer, farming on the present farm for 60-plus years and was a 29-year sales representative for Pioneer Seed Corn, where he received many awards from Pioneer for top sales in his district. He was a member of the Milton Christian Church, a Montezuma Township Trustee and a Greenpond Cemetery Trustee. He loved watching his grandchildren in their sporting events, enjoyed the local pitch card games, boating and water skiing, and was a Dallas Cowboy and Jeff Gordon fan.
He is survived by his wife, Carla; and three daughters, Donna (Roger) Loyd of Mahomet, Gail (Rod) Miller of St. Charles and Nancy (Dean) Capps of Pittsfield. Nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild, along with two sisters, Evelyn (Bob) Land of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Melba Lemons of Marietta, Calif., also survive. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Silas, Robert ""Pete"" and Eugene Lemons; and a sister, Mardell Campbell.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Milton Christian Church, with Jerry Edison officiating. Interment will be at Greenpond Cemetery near Pearl. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5-8 p.m. at Milton Christian Church. Memorials are suggested to Milton Christian Church or the Blessing Hospice of Pike County. Condolences may be sent to the family at [email protected]. Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield is handling the arrangements.
