Richard B. Robertson, longtime resident of Moab, Utah, was born Nov. 26, 1929, in Berlin in Sangamon County, and passed away Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2012, in Salt Lake City.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Judith K. Robertson; and his parents, William B. Robertson and Elizabeth Fisher.

Richard is the proud parent of David Robertson, Brian Robertson and Kathryn Robertson-DeMers. He has four granddaughters; and one great-grandson.

Dick, as his friends referred to him, was a strong advocate for environmental protection and retired from the National Park Service after 30 years of service. Dick, who believed strongly in his country, previously served his country through his service with the Navy and Army Reserves, receiving honorable discharges in 1956 and 1960, respectively.

Dick graduated from the University of Illinois and committed his life to service to his country, both from foreign threats and by ensuring all Americans have the ability to appreciate the grandeur and beauty of this great nation.

Dick was a longtime member of the Lions Club International and St. Francis Episcopal Church. All those who knew him will sadly miss his presence, but his legacy will surely touch all generations to come.

Dick went to Illinois College several years. He was especially interested in the arts. He participated in several plays while at IC.
Richard donated his body to science. Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Berlin Christian Church.
