Mildred Lois Dixon, 89, of Jacksonville, and formerly of Hillsboro, died Saturday, April 28, 2012, at her home.
She was born July 21, 1922, in Nokomis, the daughter of Ralph and Anna Olive Sanders Holmes. She married Harold H. Dixon on Nov. 9, 1978, in Jacksonville, and he survives.
She is also survived by three children, Terry (wife, Barbara) Livingston of Hillsboro, Karen Wilhite of College Station, Texas, and Kent (wife, Ina) Livingston of Decatur; two stepchildren, Barbara Ann (husband, Bruce) Zulauf of Merritt and John (wife, Jean) Dixon of Virginia; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Dorothy Downs and Rosalie Johnson, both of Nokomis, and Jean Herzog of Excelsior Springs, Mo. She was preceded in death by one sister, Janelda Hill.
Mildred was a bookkeeper for Andrews Lumber Company in Jacksonville for 13 years, retiring in 1982. She previously worked at Hillsboro Lumber Company in Hillsboro. Mildred loved jigsaw puzzles, crocheting and sewing.
A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Williamson Funeral Home, with burial at Diamond Grove Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home, where the family will meet friends from 6-8 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the
