Keith Leon Farmer, 84, of Jacksonville, passed away Saturday evening, June 23, 2012, at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville.
He was born Nov. 5, 1927, in White Hall, the son of William H. and Maude Mae Hammon Farmer. He married Mary M. Hunter on July 4, 1951, at the Murrayville Baptist Church in Murrayville, and she survives.
He is also survived by one son, Brian K. Farmer (wife, Lisa) of Jacksonville; a daughter-in-law, Melissa Mueller (husband, Delbert) of Arenzville; and one granddaughter, Sunshine Seymoure (husband, Scot) of White Hall. His extended family includes, Chris Hoots (Kelly) of Connecticut, Matt Harris (Jessica) of Springfield, Josh Trout (Claudia) of California and Ben Trout of Washington state. Great-grandchildren include Collin Bowman, Abigail and Scot Seymoure, Mistie, Alycia and Gavin Hoots and Brayden Harris. He was preceded in death by one son, Randell W. Farmer; two brothers, John F. Farmer and Everett L. Farmer; and two sisters, Leona Miner and Alta B. Farmer, who died in infancy.
Mr. Farmer worked in the Maintenance Department at Illinois College for 30 years, retiring in 1985, and was a longtime member of Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church in Jacksonville.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church, with burial at Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
