Bethene J. Hatcher, 71, of Winchester, passed away peacefully Friday morning Feb. 28, 2014, at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born July 15, 1942, in Mason City, Iowa, to Arvid and Evelyn Whitehurst Stokesbary.
She married Delbert "Gene" Hatcher April 9, 1986. He preceded her in death Feb. 10, 2010.
Bethene is survived by six children, Gary (Twila) Northrop of Glasgow, Janet Kirbach of Jacksonville, Rod Northrop of Kentucky, Kathie Huson of Virden, Mark Crain of Winchester and Amy Ford of Belleville. She has 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bev Lambert of Auburn, Debbie Hansmeier of Clear Lake, Iowa; and a brother, Daryl Stokesbary of Minneapolis, Minn.; and dear friends Jackie Barber, Joyce Davis, Barb Glossop, Dan and Genise Hatcher, and Karen Hatcher; and her beloved dog, SuziQ, that also survive.
Preceding her in death was a sister, Barb Ford.
Bethene was the activity director at the Scott County Nursing Home for many years, retiring in 1997. She loved her family, friends, bingo and taking trips to the casinos.
Cremation will be accorded and private interment will be held in Glasgow Cemetery.
