Mary C. Montesi, 90, of Jacksonville, died Monday, March 17, 2014, at her home, surrounded by her family.
She was born Aug. 17, 1923, in Reed, Ky., the daughter of Leo and Hattie Green Lawson Clary. She married Henry Joseph Montesi on May 10, 1943, in Owensboro, Ky., and they later divorced.
She is survived by three daughters, Jo Marilyn Love, Carol Ann Dennison, and Veronica Mae Meyer (husband, Charles), all of Jacksonville; six grandchildren, Tony Rexroat, Angel Zimmerman, Jeffrey Kendall, Nicolette Toten, Matthew Meyer, and Naomi Meyer; five step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Henry Joseph Montesi Jr. in infancy; three brothers, Paul, Roderick, and William Leo Clary; two sisters, Irene Dieruf and Carol Watts; and three additional siblings in infancy.
Mrs. Montesi was a 1941 graduate of Spottsville (Ky.) High School. She worked in the retail jewelry business for 35 years with Kay Jewelers in Louisville, Ky., and Springfield, Edwards Jewelers in Jacksonville, and J.C. Penney Jewelry Department in Jacksonville, retiring in 1989. She was a member of JACIL.
Cremation rites have been accorded by the Buchanan & Cody Crematory. Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at the Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Jacksonville.
